PIETY -An indispensable provision for the Muslim.

Every traveller needs some provisions for his journey. The longer the way, the more arduous and greater the sacrifices required to complete it and the more provisions he requires. What then of someone travelling towards Allah and the Hereafter? Someone who will end his journey either in Paradise or the HellFire?  What could we say of a traveller who starts his journey with trials and tribulations in this world, spending the remainder of his journey in a state of dust in his grave, only to end up between the Hands of his Lord?  What provisions does such a person need to take with him?  What kind of provisions will benefit and help him on his journey?  And By Allah, he neither needs wealth nor children as provisions on the way towards Allah and the Hereafter. Indeed, such worldly means will be of no avail to him on the Day of Judgement While every journey requires a particular provision, the journey towards Allah requires  PIETY  which, alon...

The command of Allah: Keep to the faith of your father Ibrahim

All of the prophets, peace and blessings be upon them, were sincere to Allah when they delivered the divine revelations to their peoples. They are the exemplars of the highest standards of inward and outward righteousness that we must strive to emulate.  Allah says Remember Our servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, all men of strength and vision. We caused them to be devoted to Us through their sincere remembrance of the Final Home: with Us they will be among the elect, the truly good.  Though Islam may be called the religion of Prophets Noah, Moses, Jesus, etc. yet the Quran emphasizes over and over again that it is the religion of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon them all). Therefore, you should follow it. This is for three reasons.  (1) The first addressees of the Quran were the Arabs who were more familiar with Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) than with any other Prophet and acknowledged him to be a holy personage and their leader.   (2) Prophe...

Say, “My prayer, my offering, my life and my death are all for Allah, the Lord of all the worlds".

This statement from surah Al-An’am:verse no:162 was made by the Holy Prophet (pbuh) to declare his complete sincerity. All he did was only for Allah. He did not need anything the people could give him, for his focus and goal was to please his Lord. This is the outcome of perfect faith and perfect sincerity.  This leads one to think, care and keep in sight, in all states of life and in everything one does, that: ‘my Rabb, and the Rabb of the whole wide world is One Rabb. I am His servant. I am in His sight – all the time. Let not my heart, my mind, my eyes, my ears, my tongue, and hands, and feet, nor my pen or step, move in any direction against His pleasure.’ This is a simple meditation (Muraqabah) of the highest order, something which, if one trains himself and his family to keep present in one’s heart and mind, then, there is no doubt that he or she will become a human being in the real sense.  Things like sin and disobedience and crimes will be scared to come an...

The greatest thing about being an epitome of Mankind is to practice whatever you preach”-Is emulating the Qur'an a challenge?

It has been estimated that up to 95% of all human behaviors are learnt through looking up to role models. However, even if it were only partially true it is a very good reason to choose positive role models, for ourselves and our children. Sadly, in today’s 24/7 media saturated environment we are more likely to choose wrong role models, who push us away from the remembrance of Allah. This could be a disaster. Role models are people who possess the qualities that we would like to have and people who have affected us in a way that makes us want to be better human beings. For instance it is from role models that we learn how to handle life’s problems.  Prophet Muhammed lead the kind of life that we should want to emulate Fortunately Islamic history is peppered with amazing role models with Positive displays of good morals and manners, determination, will power, and high ethical standards. we need to strive and emulate these positive attributes. We human beings are not perfec...

Prophet Ibrahim(pbuh)the leader of Mankind.

All praises and thanks to Allah azawajal. May his peace mercy and blessing be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) his family his companions and upon all the believers. As Muslims, we believe that the Prophets were the best of mankind, sent into the world to guide and bring people back to the worship of Allah (swt). One of the greatest Prophet sent was a man that the Quran refers to as "a community unto himself" [an-Nahl:120]. The description is a powerful example of who he was, and the legacy he left behind. He faced test upon test, and what was remarkable was how he persevered when the tests came. We can all learn a lot  from the example of Ibrahim (as). Allah(swt) says in surah Mumtahina verse no: 4 "Indeed there has been an excellent example for you in Ibrahim and those with him, when they said to their people: “Verily, we are free from you and whatever you worship besides God, we have rejected you, and there has started between us and you, hostility and hatred f...
